Kundli matching beyond the 36 gunas
Ashtakoot Guna Milan compares eight kootas (Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot and Nadi) for a total of 36 points. A score of 18 or above is generally considered acceptable.
Nadi and Bhakoot carry the most weight and are examined carefully — but even a Nadi dosha can be cancelled by specific placements.
A thorough match also looks at the 7th house and its lord in both charts, the position of Venus and Jupiter, Mangal Dosha, and the timing of marriage in each person’s dasha.
Use the score as a conversation starter, then let an astrologer read the two charts side by side.
